Tuning your drums is a matter of personal opinion.
I'm using a piano as a tuning sourse, and I tune all of my tom skins according to a system where the bottom heads is 4 half tones higher than the batter heads.
Between the toms there is a difference of 5 half tones between the comparable skins for each drum, tuned at a lower pitch when starting at the smallest tom.
Example:
(Batter head 16" is the lowest scaletone)
16”
Batterhead = G
Bottomhead= B
14”
Batterhead = C
Bottomhead = E
12”
Batterhead = F
Bottomhead = A
10”
Batterhead = #A
Bottomhead = D
You shuld be able to "play" the notes from "Here comes the bride" between the bottom skins of the toms, starting the first note at tam 2. This also goes for the batter heads.
This works fine for me, nevertheless you might have to change the tone you start with to make it more suitable for your type of drum-material.
A 5-step of halftones between batterhead and bottomhead might also contribute to better sound - have a try - np matter how you tune, nothings really wrong - tuning is a matter of personal taste.
