They give away 1000 CD

The group Eye II Eye is playing with the record companies, and they do something different to reach their audience.

The Net is blamed for the falling in CD sales worldwide. Lars Helland (40) in Eye II Eye is concerned about the way the record companies handle the problem.

Are these able to play with the record companies?

Slowing down development
"– The record companies try to slow down the development on the Net. That's my impression. They are not trying to use the possibilities to their advantage" says Lars Helland to Nettavisen in Norway.

He is a member of a band that has the experience that the record companies will not take a chance on something unsecure.

"– We make retro music (80's), and it should be quite a good timing now. But together with us been in our 40's makes us uninteresting to the companies. My impression is that they are mainly seeking someone under 20."

To sign an artist is very expencive when you have to do TV and other advertising to sell the music. There are many band competing to get attention - and it's hard to reach a larger audience.
